1949 Courtland, Mechanical Operating Crane Truck in Original Box

1949 Courtland, Mechanical Operating Crane Truck in Original Box

Superb mechanical tin and steel litho operating crane truck. Store stock from the Crown 5¢ and 10¢ store Millersburg, PA, in mint unused condition complete with original box. The box is in near mint condition.

Fantastic truck and crane combination toy powered by a strong mechanical wind-up motor. It uses an attached key. The crane section rotates manually. A steel crank located on the trailer body automatically raises, or lowers the crane boom while making a clicking/grinding sound.

Beautifully detailed truck with bright red cab with manufacturer's trademark, embossed gray and black toothy front grille, plastic cab roof, pressed aluminum front bumper, black litho trailer with aluminum chassis plate, and solid rubber tires. The bright orange embossed crane body is set into a red tin litho base. It's detailed with perspective views of the two operators from the front and sides. Around the edges, top and sides, are lithoed rivet heads. The rear doors, handles, and caution signs (also all lithographed) give it a very realistic overall appearance. The boom, tow hook and chain are pressed aluminum.

The box, like many of those by Courtland, is a simple text style featuring the name of the manufacturer and toy.

Size: 12" x 3". The top of the crane body is 4¾" high.
